4 in 10 without power in Garrett County after Superstorm Sandy

Nearly four in 10 electricity customers in Garrett County remain without power after more than 30 inches of snow from Superstorm Sandy.

By noon Saturday, the county had about 9,100 power outages remaining. Statewide there were 11,700 outages.Potomac Edison spokesman Todd Meyers had said power should be restored to 75 percent of customers by midnight Friday and to 95 percent of customers by midnight Monday.The Maryland Army National Guard has 66 soldiers serving on duty in mountainous Garrett County on Saturday. Lt. Col. Charles Kohler says soldiers are helping to deal with stranded vehicles, lead search and rescue operations and coordinate recovery efforts. More
